At Willow Kin Photography, I specialize in maternity, newborn, and family portraiture that feels natural, elegant, and deeply personal. Each session is designed to honor your family’s story — blending fine-art imagery with warmth, care, and intention.
With training as a postpartum doula and infant CPR certification, I bring both artistry and care to every session. My goal is to create a calm, nurturing experience where you feel supported and beautifully seen.
When my niece was born, that same feeling came rushing back. I fell completely in love and wanted to capture everything: her tiny hands, her sleepy smiles, her changing little face. I bought my first camera, and that’s where my story as a photographer began. (She’s not exactly thrilled about being photographed these days… but can you really blame her?)
That love for storytelling and connection is what guides my work today. Whether I’m photographing a growing belly, a new baby, or a family in the beautiful chaos of everyday life, my approach is always rooted in care, calm, and intention.
Along the way, I became a postpartum doula and lactation consultant, and earned my infant CPR certification, not because I planned to change careers, but because I wanted to understand the motherhood journey more deeply.
Even without children of my own, I’ve always felt called to support women through this sacred season, to create spaces where they feel seen, safe, and celebrated. That same heart shapes every session I photograph.
I share life with three rescued cats, Willow, Aspen, and Juniper, who have become my own little family. Willow, especially, inspired the name Willow Kin, a reminder that family is something we create through love, care, and connection.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me baking bread, cooking something from scratch, or at a live Depeche Mode concert (their music never fails to lift my spirit).
I pour meaning into everything I do, from kneading dough to photographing a mother’s embrace. My work is about love, connection, and the quiet beauty tucked inside everyday life. I want every photograph to feel like a memory you can hold — honest, soulful, and deeply personal.
Hi, I’m Carmen. Photographer, sourdough bread maker, and introvert in disguise. I love quiet mornings with coffee and bread warm from the oven, the kind of stillness that helps me slow down before the day begins. Most people are surprised to learn I’m an introvert: I’m talkative, a little witty, and love good conversation and laughter. But after all that, I need my quiet to recharge.
I was raised by my sisters after my parents divorced when I was seven. We didn’t have much, but we had each other, and that kind of love shaped how I see the world. I used to fall asleep looking at our family albums. We didn’t have many photos, but I cherished every one. Even then, I didn’t know why, I just knew they made me feel connected, safe, and seen.
Every story begins with connection. We’ll meet for a complimentary Zoom consultation where you share your vision and what matters most to your family. Together, we’ll plan colors, wardrobe, and the details that make your session uniquely yours.
Once you’re ready to book, you’ll receive a personalized welcome email with your session details and a beautiful PDF guide on how to prepare. You’ll feel confident and ready for your day, knowing every detail is handled.
On your session day, you can relax and be present. Whether in your home or my studio, I’ll guide you through gentle, natural poses that capture authentic connection. It’s a calm, joy-filled experience designed to reflect the love within your family.
Two weeks later, we’ll meet for your reveal appointment, where you’ll see your portraits for the first time. Together, we’ll design timeless artwork for your home, from handcrafted albums to custom wall art collections.
Your finished pieces are created with museum-quality materials and delivered ready to display, a daily reminder of the love and belonging that fill your home.
Displaying your family’s portraits at home creates a sense of belonging, a daily reminder of your love and connection. These moments are your legacy, meant to be seen, admired, and passed on for generations.
Every session begins with a vision, your family’s story, your connection, your legacy. To ensure each experience is crafted with care and attention to detail, a $300 Creative Fee is required at booking.
This fee reserves your session and includes:
The Creative Fee reflects the time and artistry devoted to creating your portraits. It is credited toward your artwork purchase when your investment exceeds $1,200.
Portrait collections begin at $900, and most families invest around $2,500, choosing heirloom artwork and digital collections that best fit their home and lifestyle.
Displaying your portraits in your home is more than décor, it’s a daily reminder of love, belonging, and the story you’re building together.
